29th chapter doing the easy thing

He was approaching me.
And he was approaching me fast.
Not that it mattered in the end he would get to me.
I stopped fighting the shackles, looking at the lich king, with a face of utter terror.
He dropped his grin and looked upon me with a face that spelled death.
He spoke, and as he spoke the room shook and I knew that whatever he said it had to be true.
„You will not die little elf. Yet you shall never live again. your time among the mortals has ended, it is time to join me in your final place.“
I whimpered, saying something futile , like I would never join him and that he should piss off.
He laughed and with the laugh the room shook so greatly that stones fell atop us and hit one necromancer on the head.
He fell down in his corner of the room and was quickly replaced by another one.

Arthas continued, „Yet I cannot take you by any normal means. I cannot kill you and revive you as one of my servants for I need your mind intact.
Something is hidden there and I need it for my plans.“
He began circling around me, suddenly wielding frostmourne.
„Do you know my plans,”blood” elf? Let me tell you, I love telling tales of things yet to come.
You see elf, this world is too strong.
It has survived not one but two invasions of the burning legion.
No other world has been this fortunate. And they have laid waste on many worlds.
And during that time this world has been responsible for killing its leader and its commander.
Now all that remains is a creature that is only fit to gather troops to die.
Their burning crusade has failed, elf, their doomguards gone to mercenary work, the pit lords lost their leader and rumors of Eredars deserting the cause to kill draenei are circulating.
the burning legion has failed ,elf, a shadow of what it once was.
But where others see joy and excitement I see an opportunity.
I will leave this world, invade draenor and use the portals residing there to invade and destroy cpuntless worlds and my army will be as large as they will be unstoppable.
But to do that I need something edged in your mind.
The power to build and support a portal.
Something only you gatekeepers can do.
And there is also something else in there. Something I cannot fathom.
That is the reason why you have been brought to this experiment.
See those crystals,“ he pointed to some crystals rising up through the air.
„They will carefully siphon your life energy and replace it with what you would call defiled energy. It will sustain you and keep you intact no matter what happens. your mind will be open to me as a book on a table and your will shall be mine.
Now enjoy your demise, it will take a while.“
And with that he turned away and left the room.
I whimpered and would have probably fallen asleep if not for the necromancers that suddenly became very busy with the crystals.
A gnomish necromancer approached me with a face of a rat.
He put some kinds of stones on my body.
While he was fastening them with magic he talked to me in a squeaky little arrogant voice.
„I cjant whait tjo shee the results. Iff you are a success wje will turn into a bjeing like you.“
„Bjut it’s probably a success, mjaster never did any mistake. It ijs foolproof.“
He smiled a greasy smile and ran off to his place in the ring beginning to form around me.
„What’s going on? “I asked weakly.
And then it began.
The crystals floating around me began to swirl around me, faster and faster.
Then the magical circle began to appear, a six point star with me in the middle.
The necromancers chanted and channeled energies into the circle.
The crystals stopped one by one. No one in the same place.
Finally the last crystal stopped.
And the ritual began.
The crystals shoot out some kind of undead energies into me and siphon my own into themselves.
The pain. I guess you know it for yourself sira, its unbearable. After the first initial screams of pain I passed out.

I opened my eyes and I knew I hadn’t awakened.
It was just a dream.
In front of me stood a man dressed in sand.
I shook my head and looked again and he was still there, not dressed in sand but shadow that surrounded and flew around him like rain in a storm.
„Get up“ he said with a voice as old as time.
„Get up.“
I was still in the room. I still had he shackles on. The crystals were still siphoning my life away. Everything was the same except this man that none but me seemed to notice.
„Get up!“
„I can’t“ I said, and closed my eyes.„ I’m stuck in this chair.“
I opened my eyes and the man was there no more.
„Only a dream“ I whispered.
And then suddenly I was no more I the room but in a desert without a sun.
A booming voice surrounded me and shook my mind as it did my ears.
„It’s never only a dream!“
„Get up. dispel your fears and your death.“
„Destroy your desires and fulfill your destiny!
I give you now your second gift, you haven’t paid any heed to the first.
break through these chains and change your being.“
„You are not meant to be here.
You have a mission from us.
Gather the gatekeepers and warn your leader. Gather your friends and uncover your power.
You are the strongest. You are the one that will shape them all.
Kingdoms, empires, mountains, lands.
All will be at your mercy.
Listen now and listen well.
You shall remember these words as long as you live, for when you forget them you will die.“

Find out the truth of your fallen friends
Hurry; make haste, before evil makes amends
Discover the glory of the death kings fall
And uncover the meaning and the end of it all

One you’ll find not far away from home
The second under the mountain feeling all alone
The third near the abyss of the endless sands
And the fourth near his power with leaves in hands.

Now. „Get UP!“
I woke up.
Suddenly full of power.
And I chanted the poem the voice had told me.
And with every syllable I grew in power.
Suddenly I found a new pool of power within me as powerful the world itself.
I reached out and touched it.

I blinked.

And thousand stars were born.

They fell upon the glacier that holds the fortress of the frozen throne with ferocity the undead had never witnessed.
Most of them fell upon the roof directly above me, and blasted the rooms under it with a destructive power as precise as it was enormous.
I felt the ground shaking and the fortress above me shatter with a joyless face.
This was the hour of my escape.
I stood up, paying no heed to the shackles that were supposed to restrain me.
Come Mesfer I said as the poor imp blasted through the remainder of the roof and landed beside.
He jumped up and crawled his way towards my shoulder.
But on the way he melted with me and for the first time I truly understood his purpose , the magnitude of the gift Illidan had bestowed upon me.
I had never before fully joined with Mesfer. Never truly appreciated his powers.
Now it was time.
We joined completely.
his mind was mine his will became mine and mine became his.
And we set off to kill the one who had caused us so much pain and terror.
Arthas.
most plans are critically flawed by their own logic.a failure at any step will ruin everything after it.
