Ninth chapter

She ran. And ran. She ran as fast as she could. She had no plan, no point, no immediate place to hide in. she could only run and hope that the fortune was with her.
The wyrms were after her, somehow they could track her, she didn´t know how, the wyrms had never been as organized as grouping up and hunting a specific person.
But it all had the mark of him. She didn’t need evidence; she just knew he was behind it.

The wyrms were closing down on her, their deformation was nearly at it’s end and they had already developed heads and feet.

She ran. And after her the Wyrms came. She ran through markets and houses, guildhalls and schools. And after her the Wyrms came, thrashing and destroying everything.
She prayed to whatever god that would listen for her survival. Well most gods.

She looked behind her back and her prayers were reduced to nothing.
The Wyrms had wings now. They were flying after her. Dragons were loose in ironforge.

And after them Frostwind, Exen´tor and Mizra ran. Through the burning markets and homes, the scorched guildhalls and schools, and in one of those burning markets Mizra fell.
She was jumping over a pile of clothes when she snatched her leg in one of the robes and fell deep down in another pile.

„Hurry up“ Exen´tor called when he jumped over her.
She thrashed about for a while and became entangled in the clothes.
„Garrr!“ She screamed savagely and froze all the clothes around her and smashed them to pieces.
All but one. Somehow she had dressed herself in a blue, quite simple yet elegant robe. And that robe had denied to freeze.

„Hmm“ she hummed, at first she wanted to rip the robe from her but then decided to keep them on.
She hadn’t wore clothes for months now, only her ice armor which she had formed in the shapes of primitive clothes, had prevented her from full nudity.
And with her new frost resistant robes she ran along after her friends.

„That’s it“ she said, „that’s it.“
Sira’dreth stopped. The wyrms charged and she turned herself on fire. Her hair became fire ,her face became lava and her clothes changed with her.

With molten voice she recited a part of her poem as the wyrms came ever closer:
He’ll conquer the world of your fallen soul
to conquer the worlds of all that might be whole

One of the wyrms landed and prepared to swallow her whole .
„FIREBALL! “ she screamed and indeed a fireball formed in her hand glistening white and pure.
And she threw it straight in his face. The wyrm winced.
So she threw it again. and again. And again. Soon it was as the rain of fireballs was a constant stream of fire, her hands were moving at an unnatural speed and slowly the wyrm withdrew itself and tried desperately to defend itself with its wings.
If this was the only one she could´ve taken it down, but there were a lot more. This was a futile battle and Sira’dreth knew that. But she wasn´t going down without a fight.

The other wyrms landed right next to the other one and started snapping jaws furiously at her. She jumped away and was forced to relent her attacks on the first wyrm who recovered instantly and swung his claws in her direction.
She was backing now, it was lost.
But if she had to take the goddamned city with her then so be it. She started glow furiously with white glistening power. The earth started melting and even the wyrms averted their eyes. And so the city of ironforge would have been destroyed, if not for a single call from a desperate gnome: „SIRA!“

She looked in his direction and chuckled.
„Frostwind, ever so hopeful, ever so good,“ she looked upon the wyrms and thought: „I have faced evil he cannot comprehend and must never comprehend.“

She looked at the wyrms and decided. Better one city than the whole world., plus she would escape.
„SIRA!“
That was another voice , but from her long banished past.
„SIRA’DRETH!“

Exen’tor. She saw him running after Frostwind amidst the rubble. And Mizra. Suddenly hope flared in her heart, maybe she could escape, maybe they could team up again like in the old days and everything would be good.
The fire around her decreased and the ground became solid again.
Maybe they could all,,,
A wyrm stepped out and swallowed her whole.
Of course she thought. It was all for naught. Hope was lost just as the rest of the world.
It seemed as it happened in another world but somewhere three voices screamed in unison.

„SIRA!“
Frostwind became blinded with rage .He rushed forward without a thought for his safety or the magic he could have used.
He screamed as he ran towards the wyrm who had swallowed Sira’dreth. But that wyrm began transforming into something wormlike and the other stood in front of him and made a blockade.

Frostwind shot ice bolts furiously at them but they all melted on their skin without the wyrms taking any obvious damage. They sniggered and sent forth a mighty flow of fire and death upon the little gnome.
Thus he would have died if not for Mizra who had run to him and casted an ice shield over them both. While under the furious stream of fire she talked to Frostwind.„ Let me do this , I can easily handle them, “she said, „and besides ,I have to save my sister. “
The fire stopped and the wyrms were silent in their surprise.
Someone had actually shielded himself from their breathing. The shield was lifted and Mizra appeared holding it up with her left hand.
She looked at them, blue power reflecting in her eyes
The wyrms breathed out and let loose another flow, even more powerful than the last one. She lifted out her right hand towards the incoming fire and said dully: freeze.
And the fire did so. It froze in mid air, became bright blue and fell down. So surprised were the wyrms that the flow stopped and they fell back with awe.
„But, but,, but that’s impossible“, Frostwind stuttered.
Mizra smiled at him and said„:well I guess that it didn´t happen then.“ And then she was off, charging like a mad bull directly at the wyrms. She formed two blades of ice coming out of her hands and jumped.

She was obviously too far away from the wyrms for the jump to have any effect. But in mid air a clump of ice formed beneath her and she jumped from it even higher to the next clump that formed beneath her. That way she jumped higher and higher .
The wyrms tried to blast her or slash but she simply jumped away, forming another clump of ice where she needed it.
She finally came close to one of the wyrms and jumped on its nose.
She ran towards its left eye and thrusted out her blades directly into its pupil.
The wyrm would have undoubtedly screamed in pain and horror if Mizra hadn’t freezed the beast the second it realized its doom.
Its whole body became ice and theN exploded by Mizra’s command.
She jumped to the remaining wyrm who tried desperately to inflict some damage upon her.
But she kept on going, and jumped to the wyrms neck. With one slash of the devastating blades the neck was clearly cut and the head fell from the body.

The bleeding wyrm fell down with Mizra falling safely on it.
She looked around for the third one but he was nowhere to be seen.

Where he was the last time they saw him ,was only a gaping hole. The wyrm had fled. And now sira was lost once more.

Somewhere deep in the ground coursing through the foundations of the world all hope was lost.
„The world will burn “Sira’dreth thought.
„All because of me.“
most plans are critically flawed by their own logic.a failure at any step will ruin everything after it.
