WarChief Thrall WarChief Thrall: Thrall, son of Durotan and Draka, was found in the snow as an orcling amongst his dead parents. The humans who came upon him were Lt. Blackmoore, lord of Durnholde, and Tammis Foxton, his assistant. The cruel and ambitious Blackmoore saw this orc child as the perfect opportunity to create the ultimate warrior: one with the savagery of an orc yet the reasoning of a human. The lieutenant planned to train Thrall and place him at the command of an army of enslaved Orcs. This army, loyal to Blackmoore, could finally overthrow Alliance and give the treacherous man great power.

Consequently, Blackmoore took the Orc to his fortress of Durnholde. Clannia Foxton, Tammis’s wife, nursed and cared for the orcling baby. The Foxton’s daughter, Taretha, immediately took a liking to him. However, once the orcling gained enough strength, Blackmoore shut Thrall into the fortress prisons.

WarChief Thrall
In order not to raise suspicion of his true plan and to gain wealth in the process, Blackmoore decided to make Thrall a gladiator. In his early years, Thrall was taught in basic human schooling. As he aged, Thrall was introduced to the art of war and the skills of combat. Sergeant, a veteran human warrior, trained the young Orc and became fond of him over the years they spent together. Yet that did not stop Blackmoore from constantly beating and tormenting Thrall.

Eventually, Taretha began to write Thrall letters. She was sympathetic to Thrall’s predicament and suggested his escape. One night, Taretha set fire to the barns as a distraction for Thrall\'s flight. The two met outside the fortress, and Taretha wished her Orcish friend good luck.

Thrall’s freedom was short lived for soon afterwards he was captured and imprisoned in an internment camp. To Thrall’s dismay, the Orcs in the camp appeared purposeless and lethargic. These were hardly the fearsome and respected creatures that Thrall had thought his people to be. However, Thrall was able to befriend an older Orc by the name of Kelgar. Kelgar explained to Thrall that the desire and bloodlust of battle had left the Orcs. The ancient, spiritual ways had been better. The old Orc then spoke of Grom Hellscream and the Warsong Clan who still resisted the Humans. As Blackmoore discovered his presence in the camp, Thrall escaped once again and headed West seeking chieftain Hellscream.

Although initially skeptical of Thrall’s make, Grom Hellscream came to be a mentor of Thrall. During his time with the Warsong Clan, Thrall learned of the Orcish language and history. Eventually, Thrall decided to seek out his native clan, the Frostwolves. After a long journey to the tops of the Alterac Mountains, Thrall found the clan of his birth. Throughout the next several weeks, he learned the clan\'s ways and was finally accepted as a member. Thrall also met Drek’Thar, the elder shaman of the Frostwolf Clan. Drek’Thar became a teacher of Thrall and helped the young Orc find his shamanistic heritage. Thrall was initiated as a shaman, able to call the forces of nature to his aid. In Frostwolf tradition, he gained a white wolf as his companion named Snowsong.

In time, a mysterious wanderer entered the camp. He confronted Thrall and allowed the son of Durotan to challenge him in combat. After proving his worth, the stranger identified himself as the fabled Ogrim Doomhammer, WarChief of the Horde. Doomhammer had hatched a new scheme to reunite the clans and bring his people their true, proud heritage. The old Warchief appointed Thrall as his second in command.

In accordance with Doomhammer\'s plan, Thrall infiltrated the internment camps. He sought out those who would listen, and he gradually reminded the downtrodden Orcs of their noble beginnings. After Thrall rallied his brothers from within, the Warsong and Frostwolf Clans would attack the camp. With Thrall\'s elemental powers of the shaman, the Orcs were easily able to gain an upper hand. However, during the attack of the fifth camp the Humans set up an ambush for the Horde. Although the Orcs were able to retreat and regroup, the honored Ogrim Doomhammer perished. In his last words, Doomhammer passed the title of WarChief to Thrall.

As Warchief, Thrall planned an attack on the hated fortress of Durnholde, chief operation center of the internment camps. Before attacking Durnholde, Thrall met secretly with Taretha after all his time away. He bade her to leave with him; however, her loyalty to her family and peace was strong. Wishing for a diplomatic end, Taretha decided to stay inside the fortress. Unfortunately Blackmoore, who had discovered her relationship with Thrall, was waiting for her…

Influenced by Taretha\'s commitment to peace, Thrall attempted to solve the battle peacefully. He wished to meet with Blackmoore outside Durnholde fortress. However to Thrall\'s horror, Blackmoore held Taretha\'s head from the battlements. The cruel, broken man had executed the one dearest to the Orc\'s heart. As a result, the enraged Thrall ordered an attack on the fortress. In the skirmish, Thrall was faced in a showdown with Blackmoore. The Orc finally killed the hated and twisted captor who had done so much evil to so many.

Once the battle was won, Thrall sent a message to the Alliance. It detailed the Warchief\'s desire to live in peace with a land of their own. However, Thrall warned that if the Alliance choose war again with the Horde, they would face a force beyond their human comprehension. With that, Thrall went on to liberate the rest of the camps that enslaved his brothers, hoping to reignite the honor and heritage of his people.

Later he helped Tirion Fordring free the older Orc Eitrigg, and return him to freedom from the Alliance.
