The room

As he entered the room he felt immediately that his presence had been noticed by those within it. His eyes scanned the faces within looking for her face, avoiding the raging eyes of those within, feeling certain that she was in the crowd there.
After what seemed like eternity he found her face, so innocent looking with her short brown hair flowing freely around her glasses and shoulders. There she was sitting on a small chair, petrified from the stinging gaze of the others within the room, waiting for him to come and free her from the constriction of the room.
When their eyes met she let out a quiet sigh of relief for she knew that now she wouldn't have to endure any longer within those walls and was safe from the dreaded room and its wicked inhabitants.
She hesitated shortly before rushing up and towards his arms where she knew it was safe for her, it felt as time had slowed down for her while she ran towards him. When she finally reached him she clung to him and hoped that they could hurry away from there, towards safety and better times. Never again did she want to return to that dreadful room.
As he felt her cling onto him he almost instinctively jumped out of the room with her in his grip, and quickly shut the door. Now having found her he knew that they had to get out of there as fast as possible before the rooms inhabitants would realize what had happened and move after them to get her back
Now looking down the hallway he felt a certain feeling of dread as he noticed the numerous doors on the hallway, he knew that he had been lucky to find her in the first room he went into. Thinking about it he didn’t believe he would have been able to make it to her if he’d have had to search all the rooms. He felt her grip on him tighten around him.
Having stood there for what seemed like and eternity she felt very uneasy and unconsciously tightened her grip on him and looked up at him, begging him to start moving with her timid look. She knew that soon the would be chased by the rooms inhabitants and she didn’t want to go in there again, fearing that she would loose the remainder of her humanity in there. She tightened her grip on him again, in an attempt to get him moving.
He felt her grip tighten on him and snapped out his thoughts and looked quickly up and down the hallway and to his terror he noticed that the path he had come in through had been closed so they had to go another way. Acting on a gut feeling he grabbed her and moved down the hallway as fast as he could, nervously watching the doors on the hallway as if expecting to see someone or something come out of them to intercept their escape.
As they moved down the hallway he noticed that it got gloomier due to the lighting diminishing and the ever increasing dark ornaments on the walls. Even though he felt a certain feeling of relief as the doors got fever along the walls. Suddenly he felt something change in the air around them, he felt her slip away from him as he ran onwards, and stopping almost instantly he turned around and looked towards her, where she stood behind him.
She had noticed that something was changing, the hallway got darker, the air got soggier and she felt a certain feeling grow within her, at first she didn’t recognize the feeling. She now recognized that feeling as the same as she had felt as she was brought to that cursed room, she stiffened up and her heart too a jump and started to beat faster and faster, the bewildering panic started to sink in and her eyes were wide open with fear.
She started to loose power in her arms and legs; she felt her grip on him loosen. She was loosing him! The panic sank even deeper in, she was alone, she didn’t know what to do, all she felt now was a feeling of terror stronger than before for she felt as she was being pulled back into the room and she had lost her only contact with any feeling of safety, she did not see him even though he was just out of arms reach, she was blinded with terror from the though of being alone.
Having lost contact with her he turned around to witness her face turn with fear, he him self now felt a stronger feeling of fear for he was afraid that she had lost her humanity completely, he launched towards her and wrapped his arms around her, hoping that she wasn’t lost from this world and into theirs. As he held her he whispered words of comfort to her, the first he had spoken since he came to this horrid house: “Don’t leave me here, we must get out of here together, I cannot go out of here without you. Hang in there; I won’t let them get to you again. Be with me.”
From within her haze of fear she felt his strong hold around her and his frightened voice into her ear, hearing his voice and feeling his touch again she started to come to from her panic. Once she regained strength she raised her arms around him and whispered back to him in an almost broken and very weak voice: “Don’t let go of me again, I can’t make it without you in here.” A moment later she spoke again in her weak voice: “Don’t go there, it doesn’t feel safe this way.”
They stood there for a moment in each others arms regaining their feelings and directions. After a moment he loosened his grip on her and took her hand tightly, making sure he never let go of her, for he didn’t want to loose her again into the fear that seemed to have taken a strong grip on her soul.
Having made sure she was able to move on he started to walk again, back towards the room, checking the doors on their way there. Most were locked or stuck so they didn’t spend any time on them, after a few moments they found an open door. Slowly opening it they looked through it finding a staircase that seemed to hold no end. Looking at her with questioning eyes, asking with his look whether it was okay for her to go there.
Looking down the staircase she felt a bit of relief for she felt a light breeze of fresh air touch her cheeks. Feeling the breeze she put up a weak smile and nodded to him, agreeing with him to go that way.
Feeling bit insecure they started to move slowly down the staircase, stepping lightly down they moved down it, making sure that they made no sound. Being uncertain about what would await them down at the end of the twisting staircase. It was very dark in there and they couldn’t make out where the lighting in the staircase came from as there were no shadows to be seen in there.
When they came to the end of the staircase they felt a certain feeling of unease as they met the large wooden door that sealed off the passage out of the staircase. Stopping to gather courage to move on through the door they hugged each other for a moment and then turned towards the door.
He moved his hand slowly towards the heavy door and proceeded to open it. As they slowly crept through the thick door he saw an unusually large room open up in from of him. The room was filled with large gloomy pedestals that didn’t reach the rooms ceiling which he failed to make out. Once they had grasped their situation they started to move towards the center of the room with a feint hope to find an exit from it, towards that freedom that they had hoped for what seemed like an eternity.
When they started to move towards the center of the room she clung tightly onto him with all her might for she felt that she would only be safe if she held onto him. As they passed the first pedestals she felt as if something touched her hair, not having expected anything to touch her she let out a shriek and quickly looked towards the direction of the touch. Then to her great horror she caught a glimpse of what seemed like a human inside the pedestals behind a thick glass pane.
Shocked by her shriek he quickly turned to look if something had happened to her, only to see the same thing as her. Although shocked he managed to keep calm, seeing something that looked like a human inside that pedestal he felt a feeling of disgust and yet his fears became even stronger. Was that what was to become of those that spent too much time in the room, or had those beings some other meaning or purpose here, he couldn’t help but wonder what it was.
Failing to remain calm when she saw those things in the pedestals she started to freak out and started to feel that she was slipping out of his arms yet again, failing to rationalize what was going on she started to quietly sob and grasped to keep hold on him for longer. After a few moments that seemed to take forever she collapsed from her fears onto the floor and just sat there in complete shock.
As he stood there trying to rationalize what was happening to them he suddenly felt her starting to grab him tighter but loose her grip and then he felt her slip out of his arms and onto the floor. Being still shocked from seeing the insides of the pillars he didn’t grasp what was happening right away but once he came to he saw that she was sitting on the floor, frozen yet again. Fearing the worst he kneeled down by her side and held her tightly, trying to calm her but seeming to have no effect he took her up and held her so that she would stand by his side in his arms.
He was determined that he was going to get them out of there, no matter what obstacles would face them. He secured his grip on her so that he could hold her up, feeling that she was slowly coming to again from the shock. Having gotten a good hold of her he started to move on, towards the center of the room where there now seemed to be some clearing. Being exhausted from the terror that had gnawed it self tightly into him he moved slowly towards the rooms center with her in his arms, partly dragging her for she didn’t seem to manage taking all the steps.
Once they got to the center of the room it opened up and the lighting seemed to become better. At least it was bright enough for him there too see the colors of their clothes and skin, unlike the rest of the room where some thick darkness and dread seemed to hang in the air, blocking out most positive feelings and hope. He slowly started to feel that there was indeed hope for them to get out of there safely. And when they had been there for some moments he noticed that she came to her senses again.
Still shocked from her earlier sight she was indeed still shaking but at least now she could make out her surroundings and felt his strong grip around her body. Standing still for a moment gathering her strength to move again she slowly moved her arms around him and then raised her broken voice: “What is this place? Why are we here?” Bit shocked from hearing her voice again he didn’t know what to say but once he regained his thoughts he replied to her in a low voice: “I don’t know what place this nor why we are here, but I will indeed get us out of here.”
Standing there trying to make out which direction they should head for they slowly felt better than before from the light in there. Standing there, wrapped in each others arms they started to feel more at ease. Having lost any sense of time in there they didn’t know how long they had been in there, but from all they knew they were certain that they had been there for way to long. They stood there in each others arms for a good while enjoying each others warmth and comfort.
Brutally awakened from their comfort they heard a loud scream that didn’t sound of this world. It seemed tainted by the madness that filled almost every hole of this cursed house. Not knowing what made that scream the started to feel insecure again. He grabbed her hand firmly and started to run away from the direction it came from, pulling her with him. She felt the scream pierce her skin and bones, filling her with fear. She felt her sense get dulled by fear and as it sank in she started to loose her sight and feel numb.
When she felt him pull her hand she regained her senses and felt that she had to run away from the sound. Wherever he led her she felt that she would be safe for he had indeed managed to get to her in the first place. As he pulled her on with him he headed towards the far side of the room. Frantically scanning his surroundings for both the being that had made its fearful presence so apparent and also any possible mean of escape from that twisted room.
As they ran past one pillar after the other they could not help but feel as if the persons inside the pillars were watching them, mocking their futile attempt to break for freedom. They felt as they heard their cold laughter piercing them and as they heard the laughter of the pillars echo they also heard the beings screams get closer to the room, they started to fear the worst. When they finally reached the wall of the room they saw to their great fear that the door still was a fair distance away from them.
Reaching the wall they immediately jumped towards the door in what was becoming blind desperation. The thoughts raced through their minds, thinking about what that room was, what was the scream they heard, was that being chasing them or was it self fleeing like them from the terrors of this madhouse. When they got to the door he flung it open and they jumped through it, closing it after them. To their great relief they saw that they could block the door from the inside and so they did.
When they had blocked the door they stopped to catch their breath and look at what was ahead of them. They looked down they hallway they were now in, seeing on the other end of it a bright light. Feeling greatly relived, believing that they finally had found their way out of this horrid place. Feeling a great amount of hope they rushed towards it, paying no attention to their surroundings.
As they approached the light a pair of large beings jumped out of the light and rushed towards them seeing the shadows rush towards them the started to panic and turned to flee from them only to see the barricaded door behind them. The fear sank in, they grabbed each other tightly and collapsed from fear onto the floor, holding each other tightly they hoped it would be over quickly. Hearing the fast footsteps approach them they started to loose their senses towards overwhelming fear and desperation. Only feeling fear and the faint feeling of touch and warmth from each other they moved their faces towards each other and kissed. Was that the last thing that they felt in there before passing out from the overpowering fear of what those beings might be.
