Oct. 20, 2002. Bonneville Salt Flats:

Last weekend at the World of Speed event the Mototek/Butler Aprilia RS50 broke all records in the production class, even beating Honda.

The record now stands at 75.19 mph for a 50cc motor and will be dated in the World Book of Speed as this was a FIA/FIM sanctioned event.

The development of this special RS50 started in the spring of 2002 with much effort from Van Butler Design and the Mototek Racing department. “We have had the bike well over 75mph at sea level but because of the conditions at Bonneville, 75mph was the best we could achive”, states Mr. Butler. “We are very happy with this achievement since this is our first attempt at trying to break a land speed record”, comments Jay Bernard of Mototek.

Taka skal fram að þetta var gert á -50cc
