Slashdot átti nokkur aprílgöbb þann fyrsta :)

t.d. kynntu þeir ‘lzip’
sem átti víst að standa fyrir “lossy” zip :)

hérna er smá brot í lzip FAQ'inu:

- What makes lzip different from gzip/bzip2?
Well, other than the performance benefits mentioned above, the real
difference is that lzip uses a “lossy” compression scheme. Most
other file compression utilities use a “lossless” compression scheme
This has two side effects. The first is that files compressed with
lzip cannot be restored to their original state – this is the
“lossy” in lossy compression. The second is that the performance is
vastly improved..

- What do you mean I can't restore my files?
Ha! A common misconception. You can restore your files after they
have been compressed with lzip. They just won't be exactly the same
as they were before. This makes sense when you think about it; if
you lose a lot of weight suddenly, and then put the same weight
back on suddenly, you wouldn't expect to be in exactly the same
health that you were when you started, would you?

fólk var allveg að trúa þessu :)))

EINNIG töldu þeir lesendum sínum trú um að hinn fjórði frumlitur
hafi fundist.
og hann ber nafnið ‘squant’ :)

“Seeing a new color jumping off your screen is a real head trip
though. Just try and imagine a color you may well have never seen
before.”

og smá feedback frá lesendum um þetta:

“My friend frantically calls me up and says to me ”There's a big
problem!!“ I say to him ”What?“ he goes ”I can't install the Squant
plugin! I can't see squant! “ so I say to him ”uh… that's a
joke. you know that right? “ He replies that I'm an idiot, and
after about a minute realizes he's wrong. Looks like someone reads
/. too religiously.”

SÍÐAN vildu þeir meina að AOL hafi keypt DALNet irc networkið :)
fyrir 1.5 miljón dollara :))

uhh .. yeahright :D

gaman að þessu :)
