How To Play A Guitar
Tablature: Tab is basically a way to see what fret to place your fingers on, seeing as tablature
represents the six strings of a guitar. The top string on tab is the thinnest string Fig.1
———————————————————————- - The smallest string (known as the 1st string;E)
———————————————————————- - The 2nd string (known as B)
———————————————————————- - The 3rd string (known as G)
———————————————————————- - The 4th string (known as D)
———————————————————————- - The 5th string (known as A)
———————————————————————- - The 6th string (known as E) Thickest
Usually when the strings are talked about, they are reffered to as E,A,D,G,B,E (Starting from
thickest to thinnest. Don't mind it at all, it is just reading the strings names upside down.)

Fret: A fret is a metal divider between another fret (the metal slivers you see when you look at a
guitars Fretboard: (Neck) the fretboard/neck is the long peice of wood from the base(body to the
strings location on the end.) A guitar is labeled in a humanistic way (Body, Neck, Head). The head
includes all of the metal tighteners that tighten or loosen your strings to change the tuning of your
guitar

obviously, a real guitar is much nicer.

The numbers you see on a peice of tablature music tell you what fret to place your fingers on.
The first fret is the fret closest to the head of your acoustic/bass/electric guitar.(although this only
teaches how to read, play and understand the most basic form of music writing, tablature, I will be
making a “how to play bass guitar tutorial”.
The fret's number increases the further away from the head you go.
When you see a 0 that represents playing that string without any fingers on the frets (open).
