Life appears to be a computer game. The evidence is mounting. Just as computers are programmed with words of 0s and 1s, likewise organisms ARE hardware programmed with words of As, Gs, Cs and Ts. A,G,C,T standing for the bases that make up genomes.

About 3,14159 billion years ago a salvage vessel sailed to these realms of our Galaxy. The purpose of its voyage remains, to a large extent unknown. But from documents that the Supreme Council has declassified we may discern that a tribe of Klingons commited atrocities here about 2,72 billion years before the arrival of the vessel. The tribe initiated and left behind a computer program referred to as ACGT. That program is endowed with a malignant random generator, which is lurking around our planet XXYF, aka bk_17_911, aka Earth. This random generator infests itself in life and constantly generates atrocities.

The salvage vessel's name was STRANGE, and the crew, counting 58, was referred to as the STRANGE TEAM. It anchored here for a few decades, as ACGT had to be rigorously analysed. Leading the fight was one of the greatest Random-Generator Warrior that ever was, HAL. HAL liked coffee and smoked Winston. He always respected his opponents and never declared victory before a duel. This his mark can still be found in the English language in the expression “wins not”, a sly reference to his favourite brand of cigarettes.

HAL was well liked by other members of the crew, and usually contagiously cheerful. After drinking his morning coffee in the cabin he shared with his love LAH, he would walk to the vessel's common meeting ground, as would other crew members: the captain, sailors and R-G Warriors. There he would light a cigarette and tell mysterious metaphorical anecdotes. Only three survive in these realms:

1) “Two great gunmen shall rise in the west. One named Sun, the other named Moon. Time will come when they duel, along with an amateur named Earth, in a circle in the middle of a cemetery. A famous song from a western shall sound. In the eyes of Sun and Moon you shall detect gravity, but in Earth's fear. Time shall tick. Then the Sun shall shoot Moon down with four shots, and leave Earth sitting on a horse with a noose around its neck tied to a tree, and ride away. Just before it disappears it shall turn around and shoot the rope in which Earth hangs, and save him … was Earth ever in danger?”

2) “A soccer player shall rise in Argentina, named Diego Armando Maradona. He shall meet England in a great match. He shall first score a goal, and it shall be said that he cheated. He shall then score a second winning goal, the greatest ever seen by generations … did God grant both goals?”

3) “If the last of the secret agents got his degree in Disneyland. Did his cat get his degree in Stalingrad?”

More is not known, except that an Electron Signal Analyst, COMP, detected this signal deep within ACGT: “++”. It was turned to “XX”. Then it was prearranged that the time would come that in a green pond, deep under an icy ocean, two rings would be found, each with an ex shaped diamond. The program, AGCT, was charged with inoculating the malignant random generator. That will happen when the King and the Queen of swords wed with the two rings. After which friendship will reign.
