Fleyri óhöpp.... Ferrari!

“Today (Sunday) at approximately 11.30am local time at the Barcelona circuit, Luca Badoer had a major accident while testing for Ferrari. Badoer was removed from the car and was conscious, but complaining of neck pains. He was taken by helicopter to the Sant Cugat Hospital.
Luca has no specific injuries although he is staying in hospital overnight for observation. Tomorrow he will return to Italy in a special medical plane, which is just a precautionary measure.

Only 100 yards before the corner Badoer was running flat out. Before impact he appeared to have lost a rear wheel. It is thought that shortly afterwards he lost the rear wing and then the left front wheel as well. When he went into the gravel the missing wheels caused the car to dig in, and the car somersaulted and went over the tyre barrier.

The Ferrari was the 2000 model running the new 2001 aerodynamics package. The team are currently analysing the incident, and have sent the severely damaged car back to Maranello for further investigation. Michael Schumacher will still be at the wheel on Tuesday, as planned.”
