Corolla fault prompts recall

Toyota is recalling nearly every Corolla sold since the new car's launch in January.

The manufacturer is contacting 6597 of 7070 owners to check the tightness of the bolts connecting the rear brake and hub assembly with the rear axle carrier. All cars except the range-topping T Sport are included in the recall.

Toyota says a loosened bolt will cause excessive noise from the rear axle. In the event of all four bolts loosening, which Toyota says is unlikely and has not been reported, drivers could lose control of the car.

Remedial work will take around half an hour, with each owner getting a free bottle of champagne and £10 of free fuel.

Innkallanir á nýjum bílum er ekkert nýtt og þarf ekki að vera neikvætt. Spurning hvort þetta eigi við þær Corollur sem hafa verið fluttar til Íslands.
