Digital Illusions takes Battlefield to Playstation2

Digital Illusions' award-winning game series Battlefield is coming to Playstation2 (PS2). The title - Battlefield: Modern Combat - is planned for a fall 2004 debut. Publisher of the game is Electronic Arts.

- This is a natural step in our development of the brand Battlefield, and we see the title Battlefield: Modern Combat as a springboard to the next generation of Playstation, which is launched during 2006, said Patrick Söderlund, CEO at Digital Illusions.

Battlefield: Modern Combat is a multiplayer game that enables up to 24 players to play against each other. Online play requires the PlayStation 2 console, a broadband connection, memory card and network adaptor for the PS2.

Battlefield: Modern Combat is developed at Digital Illusions' Gothenburg studio, and takes place on the modern battlefields of the world. The players can choose between more than 30 different vehicles, 70 weapons and to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or a newly formed Middle East Coalition. Voiceover communication is also supported via USB headset.

During spring 2003 three new agreements with Electronic Arts were announced. The now announced title - Battlefield: Modern Combat for Playstation2 - was one of these.

Battlefield: Modern Combat for Sony's Playstation2 will be sold at full price for approximately 50 USD. Electronic Arts publishes and distributes the game. The title is planned for a fall 2004 debut.

Revenant
